Development of Computer Systems for Specific Medical Applications.

The integration and the concatenation of activities foreseen for the specific goals described in sections 5.1.1 to 5.1.9 will foster the group to reach one of the most relevant specific objectives of this project: the development of medical applications for computer-aided diagnosis, treatment, surgical planning, and medical training and credentialing.

In particular, the goals to be achieved to materialize this specific objective consists in the development of the following applications, which versions "beta_NN" will be released and shared every two years.

These applications will follow the existing development standards within the INCT-MACC and its Associated Laboratories, like the ADAN-WEB system (http://hemolab.lncc.br/adan-web/) and the ImageLab system (http://hemolab.lncc.br/imagelab/), already available to the public. Other systems already released by the INCT-MACC can be found under the following link.

In the following paragraphs, the computational systems to be developed within the project will be presented as products that are the result of research conducted on the specific objectives.

1. Computational system for three-dimensional reconstruction of coronary vessels from intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) and orthogonal angiography (AX/Ort).

2. Computational system for noninvasive estimation of FFR – Coronary Fractional Flow Reserve.

3. System for computational estimation of cerebral aneurysm risk of rupture.

4. Anatomically detailed computational system for the arterial and venous circulatory systems.

5. Computational system for virtual experimentation with optical tweezers on biological materials.
