- Nowadays it seems appropriate to recall the outcome of the seminar promoted by the Brazilian Society for Computer Science (SBC) "Grand Challenges in Computer Research in Brazil: 2006-2016", held in São Paulo on May 8-9, 2006 with the participation of renowned researchers and observers belonging to the most important institutions of R&D and of support to R&D of this country.

- Both in the national and in the international level to be an institute of excellence in scientific computation applied to medicine, acting as a reference in activities of research and development;
