To achieve these 5 (five) general goals, and during the 72 months estimated for the conclusion of the TSP-MACC, specific goals are proposed with goals to be achieved in the short (2 years), mid (4 years) and long (6 years) term through specific activities grouped as follows

R & D Activities

  1. Research and development of innovative procedures at the frontiers of knowledge regarding the computational modeling and simulation of the human cardiovascular system (CVS) and its application in the diagnosis, treatment and surgical planning of several diseases based on patient-specific data assimilation and medical images.

  2. Research and develop innovative procedures in state of the art computer-experimental evaluation systems on the mechanical behavior of implants for orthopedic and vascular surgery.

  3. Development and application of concepts and methods of complex network theory for characterization, modeling and simulation of biological processes in medicine.

  4. Computational Biofluidics for Cell Dynamics: Development of innovative techniques for modeling and simulation of the cell constituents and of microfluidic devices for the manipulation and testing.

  5. Research and develop innovative procedures and the frontiers of knowledge for advanced medical image processing and its applications in computer-aided diagnosis and computational modeling of human physiological systems.

  6. Research and development in Collaborative Virtual Environments, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Telemanipulation and their application in distance diagnosis, medical procedure planning and training.

  7. Research and develop innovative and leading edge information systems in healthcare, with applications in emergency medical care and public health surveillance and distance education.

  8. Biological Database for genomic and clinical data to support decision making processes in the treatment of patients with cardiac insufficiency

  9. To research and develop high-performance cyberenvironments based on distributed computing for innovative, cutting-edge medical applications.

  10. Development of Computer Systems for Specific Medical Applications.
