The members of the INCT MACC comprise two main areas: technical/scientific, and medical/healthcare. The members in these areas will work in an integrated way in several activities. A summary description of the expertise of the researchers in the technical/scientific area is presented in the following list (these are related with the 5 R&D activities proposed in Section 5.1):
- MSCM: Computational modeling and simulation of complex physiological systems, with emphasis on the human cardiovascular system and on bone traumas, and their application to the diagnosis, treatment and planning of medical procedures.
- PAIM: Advanced processing of medical images, including visualization and 3D reconstruction of body structures and their application to the computational modeling and simulation of physiological systems and image-based diagnosis.
- AVCM: Collaborative virtual environments based on virtual and augmented reality, and telemanipulation in medical areas such as training, formation of human resources and surgery planning
- SIES: Healthcare information systems, with applications in emergency services and surveillance in public health.
- CCDM: Cyberenvironments of high-performance distributed computing for the aforementioned medical applications.
